What the Sunday Times has to say about Blagdon Manor:

Quotation
The Devon leg of the journey cheered up considerably when I checked in here. Hidden in a warren of lanes, Blagdon is the genuine article: the kind of hotel the GHG was invented for. More gentleman-farmer than lord-of-the-manor, it nevertheless punches well above its weight, and I’d be hard pressed to think of a small country hotel that’s better run or more welcoming.

The location: a deeply rural spot, perched halfway between Dartmoor and the north Cornwall coast. 8/10

The room: one of the best beds of the trip — big and firm, and bounded by a stout wooden frame. The bathroom could have been bigger, though. 8/10

The decor: fresh, bright and cheerful. 9/10

Food: huge hit with locals. 8/10

The service: excellent. 9/10
