Dartmoor

Purple, heather clad moorland, wide open landscapes, rushing rivers and obscure stone tors shape the landscape of Dartmoor. There is evidence of Neolithic remains, and the largest collection of bronze-age structures in the UK. Menhirs, stone circles, clapper bridges, Dartmoor crosses and ruined villages are scattered across the moor, shaping the landscape which we see today.

From rare birds and butterflies, monuments and ancient woodland, to tradition, folklore and farming on horseback, Dartmoor has it all.

Haytor (and the immediately adjacent Haytor Rocks) is a natural beauty spot, easily accessible by road. At a height of 457 metres and situated right on the eastern side of the moor, it provides excellent views of the coastline, the Teign estuary and the rolling countryside between, with the ridge of Haldon behind.
